A Rare Sighting of a Blue Bronzeback

-
I had just reached Bukit Timah Nature Reserve when my friend who was waiting there ran to me and shouted out, "There's a Snake!" I immediately ran towards the place he mentioned. It was just at the start of the South View Path. There, on the top of a large, thick partially hanging Vine was a Bronzeback. After taking as many pictures as possible, we headed back. But even after coming back from the path, it was still there.

After seeking help from Nick Baker, I was told that it was actually a Blue Bronzeback Dendrelaphis cyanochloris, a snake of which they only have a few sightings. However, he says that for final confirmation of the species its necessary to look closer at the patterningon the tail.

I caught a small bronzeback today - I believe it is also a "blue" as it has a lot of blue. I've caught the other bronzebacks and they had no, little blue. Mine is just a juvenile. Will put a post at ThailandSnakes.com in a day after I get some video and good photos. Great blog - keep it up. Cheers man, Vern (in Thailand)
