The Invitation
-
When I reached Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, I was firstly invited by these bee hives outside the Visitor Centre. They all seem to contain Black Bees. Or are they Wasps?
Hello, these are a species of small paper wasp, Ropalidia sp. (Hymenoptera: Vespidae, Polistinae). I can't see the wasps clearly enough but they could be Ropalidia sumatrae, one of the more common species in Singapore. Good eyes you have, to be able to spot these rather cryptic nests belonging to small, inconspicuous wasps. Cheers, John
