Good Snakes Come in Pairs

Back in Bukit Timah with our regular snake hunting. As usual, the first spot I looked was behind the historical book. And there, again, another Malayan Whip Snake.

-
The snake was in fact looking straight at the camera as if posing for a shot. It appears too that the book has been added to one of the hot spots for snakes, since it was the third time seeing a snake there.
-
-
The snake continued to stand up straight like a stick, still posing for me. I grabbed a few shots as it soon started to slither away.

We left to the top of the hill soon after getting over with the Malayan Whip Snake. Although said to be an uncommon species, we had already spotted it four times. But while we were about to reach the summit, another Malayan Whip Snake.
-
-
I can't explain why but Big-Eye Green Whip Snakes either suddenly grew in number, or decided to reveal themselves more during Dec 2009. I had to record my sightings, so I did not wait and took some shots.

-
Once we had gone too close, it decided that it was time for some showdown and expanded its scales, revealing its inner black and white colours.
-
-
So finally we left this individual too. It was a lucky day for us as not everyone who wishes would be able to see two Malayan Whip Snakes in a day. Looks like good snakes do indeed come in pairs! Anyway, when we reached the visitor centre, the first snake was still there. The back-side of the book was home.

Nice catch, the first snake looks more like an alien! Once upon a time, whip snakes were common here in my home town, but now they seem to have disappeared

Hi Tom, thanks for your comment. Whip Snakes used to be very common around my home in India, says my grandpa, but now there are hardly any since the people there kill every snake that they encounter. Poor snakes. :(

Nice! Must 'chiong' there to get some snakes.

Yes BlueBottle. But, you should always be careful and have an adult to accompany you. Thanks for your comment anyway!
