Butterfly Paradise

During the several trips to Bukit Timah that I had during June, i decided to try taking as many photos of the butterflies I see there. Usually I don't stop to photograph butterflies whenever I see them. I collected all m best Butterfly photos and here they are. I have to rush through as I'm short of time. Firstly, a Chocolate Pansy.

After looking up on the internet, I think I've identified this one as the Dot-Dash Sergeant. It can be found in forested areas within the nature reserves. Like the other members of its genus, it is a strong flyer and difficult to identify on the wing.

Tagiades calligana. This species is a sun-loving butterfly and flies so rapidly that only the whitened area of the hindwings may betray their presence.

This is one species that I can't identify. It was, however, the most common butterfly I encountered within the reserve.

The most pretty butterfly was the Branded Imperial. There were ants around the vine it was sittng on.

The Branded Imperial is somewhat local in distribution, but is usually found in small numbers. It favours forest pathways at all elevations. The caterpillar feeds on Smilax bracteata, which is a common forest vine.

Apart from Butterflies, several moths were spotted and shot too. The one that I happened to be most interested in was the Geometric Moth, which came in a few different wing patterns. I had a buttterfly specialist with me who helped me identify these critters.

Here are two moths that I can't identify. I'm not even sure if the first one is a moth or some sort of fly.
