A Colourful Stick-Mantis

My backyard's always ready to surprise me with more creatures. This time, after the cicada, I was presented with a small and colourful stick mantis.

Had some difficulty photographing this little mantis due to it's small size and its thickness. This insect was only about 1 millimetre thick!

I just love its pose. Soon I persuaded it to get down from the plant as it was difficult for me to shoot it when it was hiding under the leaf. However, after it was on the ground, it was equally difficult for me to spot it as it blended in well with the twigs. I did manage a few shots before it decided to head away.

What I like most about this mantis is the two or three white stripes it has on it's eyes.

Nice macro shots of that little creature Shawn! The colours look very appealing to me too.
